Free movie for NAIDOC Week 8 July 2008

NAIDOC celebrates the survival of Indigenous culture and the Indigenous contribution to modern Australia. NAIDOC Week celebrations will take place at the Deerubbin Centre on Tuesday the 8 July 2008 from 10.30am. Hawkesbury Library will be showing the newly released movie called "Liyarn Ngarn" for FREE at Noon.

This documentary records the personal stories of the Yawuru community of the West Kimberly region and are recounted by English actor Pete Postlethwaite. The movie also features Patrick Dodson and Archie Roach. The soundtrack features powerful lyrics by Archie Roach.

This movie was featured recently at the Cannes Film festival. It runs for about an hour and refreshments will be served. Other events include a performance by the Merana Aboriginal Dancers in the Gallery.

Hawkesbury Central Library is located in the Deerubbin Centre at 300 George Street, Windsor.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend, the movie is free but you do need to book your seat.
