Citizen of the Month for March 2008Hawkesbury City Council is proud to announce the recipient of the Hawkesbury Citizen of the Month award for March 2008 is Martha (Marta) Allen . For many years Martha has organised outings to interesting places and Christmas lunches for seniors on or connected to Bowen Mountain. Martha has been involved with the Bowen Mountain community for many years organising and running events for families and the whole community. Martha has unselfishly given her time, energy and cheerful spirit to the people of the mountain. She has been closely involved with the Bowen Mountain Association (BMA) and the various committees, which are part of it. Raffles are her specialty - so many dollars have been raised for the Bowen Mountain Association as well as other Charities. Businesses respond with generous donations following her approach to them. At least two books have been written by two senior gentlemen on Bowen Mountain and Martha has been happy to organise the publishing of them and the sales which followed. She is passionate about caring and very practical visiting the sick and people in need regularly. Her nursing skills are a wonderful advantage. Martha is also a very active organiser and member of the Chorella Choir and has arranged several wonderful concerts. Martha's contribution to life on the mountain is not easily calculated. She is always there, working tirelessly and cheerfully for Bowen Mountain and is well know for her kindness, reliability, optimism and above all, availability. To nominate a person for Citizen of the Month, you will need to fill in a Citizen of the Month nomination form available from Council, The Richmond Club, the local Richmond and Hawkesbury Central Libraries and on Council's website.
